While we are sitting here talking about race, class, and unfair media coverage....I think this community has lost sight of the tragedy that has destroyed lives, homes, and an cities. While all of the race, class, unfair media coverage, and other over-intellectualized debates are extremely important--let's just understand that N.O. is a city of refugees. Do you think those people care about media coverage? So, let's try to be a proactive community, and quit whining about the stuff that is important later, not now.

Kudos who sent letters to AP, but let's turn that energy towards collecting donations, mobilizing efforts, or assisting these victims with their immediate needs. Also, it is just disgraceful that people have resorted to looting. I'm not talking about those getting food, but those people that have taken this national emergency as an opportunity to gut the city (i.e. Nikes, TVs, guns). I mean women are getting raped and people are carrying/stealing guns, this is just tragic and scary. So, it kind of angers me that we justify or sugarcoat their lawlessness, their lack of conscious towards their fellow humans. Just my three cents.
