Obama has a crush on me

O’Reilly And Beck Agree: We’re ‘Afraid’ To Have ‘A Lot Of African-American Friends’

Last night on Fox News, Bill O’Reilly led a discussion about Sen. Joe Biden’s (D-DE) racially-insensitive remarks toward Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL). But instead of exlusively focusing on why the remarks were condescending to African-Americans, he said blacks should “feel sorry for us white folks here, because I’m telling you now I’m afraid to say anything. … White Americans are terrified.” Watch it: http://thinkprogress.org/2007/02/06/oreilly-beck-articulate/

My Two Sense points out that CNN’s Glenn Beck hosted a similar discussion last night, during which he said, “I don’t have a lot of African-American friends, and I think part of it is because I’m afraid that I would be in an open conversation, and I would say something that somebody would take wrong, and then it would be a nightmare.” Watch it: http://thinkprogress.org/2007/02/06/oreilly-beck-articulate/

As The New York Times’s Lynette Clemetson notes, “When whites use the word [articulate] in reference to blacks, it often carries a subtext of amazement, even bewilderment. … Such a subtext is inherently offensive because it suggests that the recipient of the ‘compliment’ is notably different from other black people.”

R. Kelly Actually Had A Court Date This Month

But of course he got out of having to face the music Again!

“Oh, oh, my side hurts. My appendix burst. I have to have an appendectomy. I can’t go to court, so I can string this out even longer”.

Only Kelly would have an appendix burst just when it’s time for him to go to court.

I devilishly take pleasure in knowing this guy is going through pain. I wish his lungs would burst so I don’t ever have to hear him sing no more trash like “feeling on your bo-Ooo-ty, your bo-Ooo-ty”

Check the right column, midway down this atronutcase article for a video report on Kelly: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/orl-mastmain0707feb07,1,2226200.story?track=rss

As long as I’m bringing up the Depends Astronaut, here’s my take on her if anyone’s interested: http://yobachi2003.livejournal.com/314452.html

Random Black History Facts: Part 7

1. Birth of a Nation: a film largly credited with being the 1st Modern blockbuster movie, was releasedin 1915. It was largely a post civil war , southern sympathiser propoganda film , which showed scenes of black gangs trying to rape white women, and blacks in gov't eatin gried chicken, and watermelon. It was screened in the WHITE HOUSE by Pres. Woodrow Wilson, who commended it as historically accurate. its original title was "the Clansman" and it depicts the Ku Klux Klan as gallavanting heros saving the south form evil negros, and northern carpetbaggers. it remained the countries highest grossing film until 1937.

2. Fred Hampton- charismatic black panther leader was gunned down in his bed by Chicago police under the direction of FBI's COINTELPRO...wait... maybey i should explain COINTELPRO first. ....
Fred Hampton was murdered, the initial police investigation was covered up, and no charges were brought against the police, and the city razed the home of Fred Hampton in an attemtp to cover up evidence. It was largly believed that the gov't finially moved against hampton because of his successful efforts to mobilize the Chicago gang networks into a political force, and how his national black panther influence could cause that to be a blueprint of how to work within urban settings.

2a. COINTELPRO- a COunter INTELlegince PROgram within the FBI created by J Edgar Hoover. It's stated goal was to disrupt any group within the united states which proved to be dangerous to the continued stability of this country. in actual practice it was largely utilized to disrupt all civil right sorganizations, form SCLC, The Nation of Islam, The Black Panther Party for Self Defense, OAAU, SNCC, and at times the NAACP. They had informants in all these organizations, and through the Frredoom of Information act have been linked to the disruptions, and schisms within the Nation of Islam, The Black Panthers, and SNCC. They encourged violence between organizations often pitting them against each otehr via rumer, and innuendo. (sound familiar??) cointelpro was finially "disbanded" due to the Senate finding thier methods illegal.

3. Denmark Vessey- almost pulled off the largest slave revolt in history. in 1822, his plan involved over 9,000 african americans, slave & free. He was a slave who bought his freedom after he won lottery, he aslo is credited in some circles with co founding a AME type church in Souht Carolina. The revolt was not able to go off as planned because it was leaked to white authorities by another slave.

4. Garrett Morgan- son of former slaves, never had an education past elementary school . he invented the most popular form of the modern gas mask, which was later utilized by the united states gov't in WWI, he also invented the traffic light.

"While our work at GLAAD is about promoting fair, accurate and inclusive media representations of the LGBT community, this issue has risen to a level of visibility and importance that we feel compelled to add our voice to those speaking out against this awful portrayal," Giuliano said. "Based on what we have heard from community members and read about this character, we are joining those taking a stand against Knipp's offensive caricature."

"We recognize that this performer has a right to free speech and expression, but we also have the right to condemn his performance and speak out against this harmful depiction," Giuliano added. "This performance perpetuates ugly racial stereotypes that are offensive, hurtful and simply unacceptable, and we are urging our constituents to visit glaad.org so that they can express their concerns to the venues at which Knipp is expected to perform in the coming months."

today is National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

The mission of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD) is to build the capacity and increase awareness, participation and support for HIV prevention, care and treatment among African Americans. February 7, 2007 marks the seventh year of this annual event.

The primary goal of NBHAAD is to motivate African Americans to get tested and know their HIV status; get educated about the transmission modes of HIV/AIDS; get involved in their local community; and get treated if they are currently living with HIV or are newly diagnosed.

Two things Ive learned today...

1) "Most" blackmen cant manage their money...

2) Deleting a post is still, and always has been, a bitch move.

lika1029 made a post with some blanket statement along the lines of "Why dont most (not all) black men know how to manage their money? Even when they come into some money they usualy end up blowing it. etc etc etc"

blackfolk proceded to school her as we're known to do... We called a FREE POST and she cut and ran.

Why Me?

Do I Have A Genetic Disease

Okay ol' girl is about to get snarked some more, cause apparently we (black men) not only are especially inept at money management, but we’re really angry too.

What is Angry Black Man Syndrome?

I need to know so I can get tested. Being that I’m a black man, clearly I’m at high risk.

and I already know what you smart lil bastards are thinking in regards to me personally, stop it, stick to the issue

In response to the post in specific. Maybe dude should have been more sensitive and not shown her his girl pic (maybe cause who knows if he even knew her feelings for him) but you cannot expect that a person won’t get upset if you insult their significant other. It’s more likely than not that a person will get upset if you insult their significant other, so how is she the victim here.

If he could have walked away instead of arguing, she could have walked away, so again how is she not just as much at fault. Well that’s up until the moment he put his hands on her, then he’s at fault.

A Drive by at the mall 100 yards away for a police substation. The news crew just happened to be there to speak to police about something else.

I would like to thank snowflake_star for sending this to me

side note: the fact that the reporter was named Manuel "manny" ramos made me snicker. Plus the people in cali talk funny.

best. commentary. ever

Was watching the news with my mother earlier this evening regarding that nutty female astronaut that decided to embrace her inner Glenn Close from Fatal Attraction. Halfway through the story she turned to me and goes:

"So what IS it with these crazy-ass white women trying to kill each other because of a man? Did he have a GOLD DICK or something? Shit, I'll be damned if I'm gonna drive 900 miles to kill somebody wearing a stankin' pissy space diaper like Neil Armstrong's mother. It's not like, even if she got the chance to carry her plan out, that man would do anything other than call the psych ward to cart her lunatic ass away in a straight jacket. See, you ain't never gonna see no Black woman act that much a fool over a man that's not even hers to begin with. I don't care if he's got a thang so long you can tie it to the other side of the room and play double-dutch."
